Sure, Why Not?

The Paulie Walnuts guy (2nd from left) twists the knife in my ace-less heart.
Over the years I've been bludgeoned by hole in one sagas. It beats me mainly because I'm still an ace virgin. Deadspin.com posts another shot to my bow. Rick Shultz gets 2 aces in one round and overcomes 26,045,000 to 1 odds to earn the feat. It's also the 5th of his career. Can't tell you how pissed happy I am for him.

No Really, I Love You Man

Fired and hired back in 6 days.
What a difference a week makes. Open winner Louis Oosthuizen had employed caddie Zach Rasego for seven fairly uneventful years. The Monday of Open week, Louis decided he needed that cliched "change" and gave Zach the heave-ho. Happens all the time on Tour. But he still wanted him to caddie that week. Now, that hardly happens.
Rasego's reaction? “I just did my job. I am a caddie. It’s all I’ve wanted to be.” He sure did. Oostie lapped the field and earned an improbable 7-shot win. And, guess what? As he walked over the Swilcan Bridge, the happy winner gazed into his formerly fired caddie's eyes and said, "You're not going anywhere."
I don't know. In the euphoric heat of the moment it makes sense. But if I'm 'ol Zach, I'm very wary moving forward. Then again, aren't all smart caddies?

Sports is a Great Deodorant

A new Harris Poll reveals some smelly behavior of the typical sports fan. It appears a famous athlete can commit fairly heinous acts and still remain high in our scandal-blinded eyes. Nice. Tiger Woods owned the #1 spot since 2006. After his revealed boinking quest, Woods now shares the top rung with Kobe Bryant (jumping from #4 last year). Derek Jeter, Brett Favre and Peyton Manning round out the top-5.
However, Tiger's PGA Tour video game is suffering. Its sales are down 32% from last year.
NPD Group, which tracks video game sales, said that first-month sales of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 were down 32 percent from the previous version of the game a year ago.
Jeff Brown, a spokesman for Electronic Arts, blamed the slower sales on “a lot of factors,” including the slowdown in sales of the Wii and the fact that last year’s version of the game was bundled with the Wii, leading to strong sales.
“Beyond that, E.A. has partnered with Tiger because he’s a great athlete. That hasn’t changed,” Mr. Brown said.
